portrait price

The portrait size is approximately 8” x 10”, and it is mounted in an 8-ply, soft photo gray, archival matting with outer dimensions of 11” x 14” (a standard frame size). The price of a matted portrait is $150, plus $15 for shipping, handling, and insurance.

Maryland residents, please add 6% state sales tax ($9) to the cost of each matted drawing (shipping-related costs are not subject to state sales tax).

gift certificates

If you are short on time before a special gift occasion, or simply cannot easily get photos of your gift recipient’s dog without spoiling the surprise, a gift certificate for a dog portrait is a great solution. The gift certificate (which comes in a presentation folder) can be sent to you or sent directly to your gift recipient, whichever you prefer. Once payment is received, the gift certificate will be officially registered, and it will remain valid for one full year. Total cost for the gift certificate option is $170 ($150 for the matted portrait; $15 for shipping, handling, and insurance; and a $5 fee to cover the cost of materials, processing, and mailing of the gift certificate), plus $9 sales tax for Maryland residents.


how to order a portrait

1. PHOTOS: Select several clear, close-up photos of your dog. It is especially important that the eyes and other facial features are in clear focus. See “dog photo tips” for suggestions. Send your best few photos to me via email or U.S. mail (see address in Item #6 below). If sending photos by mail, please send me copies, not your only originals, in case they get lost in the mail. (Photos will be returned with your portrait.)

2. TIMELINE: Normally, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery, but this may vary with the season and holidays. If the portrait is a gift, let me know the date by which you will need it. If time is too short, attractive gift certificates are available! For gifts, please provide the address if the portrait is to be shipped directly to your gift recipient.

3. APPROVAL and SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: When your dog portrait is complete, I will email (or mail, if you prefer) a proof copy for your approval. The proof cannot show all the detail and subtleties of the original drawing, but you will certainly get a good sense of how the dog’s character has been captured. I am happy to work with you to ensure your satisfaction. The original artwork will be shipped to you after your signed approval and full payment are received.

4. PAYMENT: Once you have approved the proof copy, send payment (in U.S. Dollars) by check or money order, payable to D.L. Firmani. (See “portrait price” section above.)

5. SHIPPING: Your finished portrait will be well packaged to prevent damage. It will be insured and sent via Priority U.S. Mail or UPS, unless other arrangements are agreed upon. Cost of shipping/handling/insurance is $15.00 per portrait. Multiple orders to the same address increase by the added cost of insurance and package weight only.
